Fantastic 4... Sad.

Our upcoming podcast, releasing next week, is on bad adaptations. John has been eagerly watching the Joel Schumacher Batman films. I went to see the new Fantastic 4 movie... I'm going to save my full review for the podcast, but I'll just say that the film made me sad. On so many levels.

Episode 7: Antman and Absurdism

Episode 7: Antman and Absurdism
Hosts: Frank Shaw and John Belliston
Produced by Hobos in the Back Row
Edited by: Frank Shaw
Intro Music: Piano Sonata mvnt 1 by F.G. Shaw
Outro Music: Piano Sonata mvnt 3 by F.G. Shaw

We discuss Ant-man. How much we either like or disliked it.
Here's the IMDB page for the film. A lot of trivia on the trivia page.
Here's a link to a timeline of the production for the film: Edgar Wright's involvement and eventually leaving the production after Marvel Studios gains the rights back from Artisan Films. We don't go into a lot of details in the podcast, but if anybody's interested this is pretty interesting and cool.

There is a lot more coming in Absurdism in the next week from John, but here's some links to get you started:
366 Weird Films covers a lot of films, many I haven't seen some I have. It's a pretty long interesting list though some of the movies are a bit difficult to find. Some are on Netflix, a few are on Youtube or can also be found Amazon. Some are just difficult to easily track down.

Here's a link to a blog entitled Absurdism Today. There are only two posts but it excellently details what Absurdism is as a philosophical movement. It's much more academic than we go into in the podcast.

Oddball films has this post specifically on Absurdist Cinema. The entire blog is pretty awesome and you can find a lot of movies detailed that run the absurdist spectrum. It's worth a look and you can spend quite a bit of time here.

Finally, here's another list from Absurdity in Cinema that gives another short list of absurdist movies.

It's nine days late, but here it is!

Episode 6: Mass Effect
Hosts: Frank Shaw and John Belliston
Special Guest: Chris Thames
Produced by Hobos in the Back Row
Edited by: Frank Shaw
Intro Music: Piano Sonata mvnt 1 by F.G. Shaw
Outro Music: Piano Sonata mvnt 3 by F.G. Shaw

This is a topic that I think we'll come back to. A lot of material ended up on the cutting room floor in this episode and we could have easily talked about each game for several hours. This trilogy is the very definition of epic. If you are a gamer, and you enjoy RPG's or third person action games you owe it to yourself to play through these games at least once.

Not a lot of notes this week. There's mostly speculation about the next game in the series: Mass Effect: Andromeda at this point and other than this trailer:

Other than that here's the link to the Mass Effect Wiki, which is a hell of a resource for information on the games and fun to read through.
